Black People Can Be Deplorable, Too

Mary Cosby, a star of Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City, treats her cast and congregants horribly. We witness her be a gold digger, fat-shamer, elitist asshole and pathological liar.

She uses her toxic tongue to make her enemies on the show feel tiny. She believes that she is a better person, much cuter, and more blessed than everyone around her.

As ridiculous as it sounds, these deeds fall within the appropriate level of shade for the Bravo franchise.

But Mary blew up the ozone layer in a recent episode.“When I think about Jen, I see a heartless — I see a thug. Like, you know, those Mexican people that make all those drugs.” — Mary Cosby

Jen Shah, the absent subject of Mary’s derogatory and racist tirade, is not Latina. She’s too lazy to hurl her anti-Mexican verbal assaults in the right direction. The ethnicity of the woman who she’s aiming for doesn’t change the message. Mary revealed her truth. She’s a bigot.

That’s what Hillary Rodham Clinton, and I, call deplorable.

She’s also attacked her own ethnic group. She said she’s afraid to be around groups of Black men. Guess she’s not getting an invite to our BBQs. There’s food that’s so delicious that you take a plate home, extended family that you welcome with real smiles, and live impromptu drumming or maybe a DJ session delivered by one of the kid’s portable speakers.

Mary is missing out on a lot. It must be difficult to be afraid of your own shadow.

This pathology played out in her personal life as well. Mary prefers to date white men or light-skinned Black men. She’s a Black woman with a Black son who went on camera and said this with no hesitation.

Preference is personal and it’s not my place to judge. But her repetitive unfiltered actions and statements against different races prove that her mind is infected with the original lie and foundation of this country.

She seems to believe that white (or light) is safe, superior and beautiful. She inherited her colorism from the USA and her husband from her grandma (yep).

Mary worships a Black Jesus while simultaneously worshiping whiteness. She’s the prime example of what unchecked white supremacy can do to your brain. She’s a self-hating person of color.

Mary is a soulless sister — not a sista. It’s a lesson for all of us. You don’t have to be white, male, and waving a Trump flag from the back of your truck.
